Dimensions of graphics - Facebook
Since you are reading this text, you probably know that the actual dimensions of Facebook graphics are one of the most important elements to consider when creating content. After all, they determine how well your graphics will look on this platform. It's worth remembering that it's not just the dimensions, but also the quality of the graphic that matters, as it affects how it will look on the screen.
What's more, Facebook allows you to publish different types of graphics, such as photos, infographics, animations and videos. Each of these formats has its own size and aspect ratio requirements. Where to create graphics?
While Facebook is capable of cropping graphics or compressing footage on its own, this is often at the expense of quality, so it's best to use photo and graphic editing tools that will allow you to adjust sizes and proportions to meet the platform's requirements. This will make your content look better on Facebook and attract more attention from your audience.
Graphics format
The second element that we should consider when uploading posts to a fanpage, besides the size, is the format of the graphics. Acceptable extensions are .jpg and png, which will work well for graphics with logos or captions.
The maximum size of an image file uploaded to Facebook is 30 MB. It's also worth keeping in mind the compression, especially for background images, which Facebook automatically shrinks after exceeding 100 kB.
For videos, it is possible to use MP4, MOV or GIF formats in a size of max. 4 GB - here, too, dimensions do not matter.
Allowed text length on graphics
In the past, Facebook imposed a limit whereby text on graphics could not take up more than 20% of the image area. Nowadays, these requirements do not apply, but most users still adhere to this rule, as graphics with a few words are more readable by the audience than those with a lot of text. This is especially true for background images and advertising formats.
Keep in mind that the current dimensions of Facebook graphics change over time, so it's important to keep an eye on updates and adapt your content to new requirements.
